KOCHI: The Yuvajana Vedi has protested against the increasing practice of doctors’ professional bodies holding lavish conferences using fat donations and sponsorships provided by drug companies. The Vedi flayed the ongoing Association of Physicians in India conference (Apicon 2008) as it was organised with multinational drug companies’ money. P.S. Rajagopalan, State president of the Vedi, also criticised Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan for agreeing to open the conference particularly at a time when the State government was taking policy measures against dumping of medicines by pharma companies.
