60 bags of PDS rice seized

Krishnagiri: The district supply officials seized 60 bags of rice worth Rs. 40,000 meant for supply under the Public Distribution System, which was being smuggled in a lorry here on Thursday. Acting on a tip-off, a team was conducting vehicle checks on Krishnagiri-Kuppam road when they intercepted a lorry and seized the rice bags. The lorry was going to Bangarapet for sale and subsequent polishing in the open market.

In another incident, a team seized 150 litres of kerosene, which was hoarded in the house of Chandra of Denkanikottai. He was arrested and cases registered under the provisions of the Essential Commodities Act.
