Two naxals nabbed

BERHAMPUR: Two hardcore naxalites were nabbed during a raid by the police near Mangipalli village in Malkangiri district on Thursday.

Explosives, including gelatine sticks, detonators, wires, switching devices and grenades, were seized from them. Maoist posters were also seized. The arrested Maoists were identified as Madi Soma and Madkami Simha. The two were members of Motu Dalam of the naxal wing active in Malkangiri district. They were involved in several cases of murder, landmine explosion, extortion and looting.

Speaking to The Hindu over phone, Malkangiri Superintendent of Police S.K. Gajbhiye said that the Special Operation Group (SOG) commandoes raided the jungle adjacent to Mangipalli near MV 79 village on information that a group of hardcore Maoists were camping in the area.

But the naxals could get information about the arrival of police team through the signals from their informers.

They tried to escape from the spot. The SOG team managed to nab Madi and Madkami along with explosives, while the rest escaped. Combing operation was on to nab the other naxals of the camp.
