Nitish defends end of Lalu chapter

NEW DELHI: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has defended the removal of a chapter on the former Chief Minister and Union Railway Minister Lalu Prasad in school textbooks in the State.

Taking a dig at Mr. Prasad, Mr. Kumar said: “Mention of people who are alive should be kept away from textbooks. His life story is not yet over. He is aspiring for the lathi department [Union Home Ministry] and the number one [Prime Minister] position.”

“When a political person is no more, it should be left to the people to decide whether he or she deserves a place in textbooks taught in schools.”
