HASSAN: Principal Senior Civil Judge and Chief Judicial Magistrate Srinivas on Thursday posted the H.D. Deve Gowda vs Ravi Belagere case to January 30 saying, “There is no hurry to advance the case. He (Ravi Belagere, editor and publisher of the Kannada weekly Hai Bangalore) had written only once. If he writes repeatedly, the court will take cognisance of it.” The judge directed counsel representing Mr. Ravi Belagere to file the written objection to the plaint of the plaintiff in which Mr. Deve Gowda had sought compensation of Rs. 10 crore and also objections to two interim applications on January 30. Court orderK.H. Javare Gowda and B.S. Venkatesh Murthy, counsel for Mr. Deve Gowda, argued that despite the court issuing temporary injunction order against the defendant , Mr. Ravi Belagere wrote an article in his paper in the December 28 issue against Mr. Deve Gowda. This is in clear violation of court orders, they said and appealed to the court for immediate action. Raj Kumar, appearing on behalf of Ravi Belagere, said that writing was not defamatory and if it was defamatory, there was another legal forum to fight it.
