Sagar student chosen for award

SAGAR (SHIMOGA DISTRICT): Sahana G. Bhat has been selected for this year’s Swami Vivekananda Rajya Yuva Prashasti instituted by the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports.

The award carries a purse of of Rs. 10,000 and a citation.

Ms. Sahana will receive the award from Governor Rameshwar Thakur at a function at the Raj Bhavan in Bangalore on January 12, coinciding with the National Youth Day. Ms. Sahana, who is in LLB final year at the Gangotri College here, has won several State-level awards in the field of light music.

She won accolades for her performance at the ‘Chandanotsava’ organised by a private TV networkrecently.

She is being trained in Carnatic music by Seeta Bapat and is guided in light music by noted musician Ghartikere Raghanna. Ms. Sahana is an active member of the Bhumika Yuvaaati Mandi. Several cultural organisations have congratulated her on her being selected for the award.
