VOICING THEIR DEMANDS: Members of the city BJP Mahila Morcha staging a demonstration in Shimoga on Thursday. SHIMOGA: Members of the city unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Mahila Morcha staged a demonstration here on Thursday protesting against the delay in releasing pension for the aged, physically-challenged, widows and beneficiaries under the Sandhya Suraksha Yojane. They came in a procession from the district BJP office to the Deputy Commissioner’s office, where they submitted a memorandum addressed to Governor Rameshwar Thakur. They stated in the memorandum that pension had not been given to the aged and physically-challenged for the past two months. They said they would intensify their agitation if pension for beneficiaries under various schemes was not released immediately. Suvarna Shankar, president of the district unit; Girija Patil, president of the city unit; and general secretary Manjula Pandey led the demonstration.
