Hubli college bags honours in women’s varsity exams

Gulburga’s VG college students dominate science stream

BIJAPUR: Students of the SJMVS Women’s College, Hubli, have secured all the 10 ranks in the final examination held for bachelor’s degree in commerce for the year 2006-07 of the Karnataka State Women’s University. In the Arts stream also, the first two ranks were bagged by the college.

However in the Science stream, students from VG Women’s College, Gulburga, secured five of 10 ranks though the first rank went to Akkamahadevi Mahila Vidyalaya (AMV), Bidar.

Delayed

Releasing rank lists for different bachelor’s degree courses at a press conference here on Thursday, V.B. Maganur, in-charge Vice-Chancellor, said though results were announced much earlier, the announcement of ranks was delayed due to revaluation process.

Mr. Maganur said only three ranks had been given in B.Com. (vocational) as the course was taught only in SSRS College, Raichur. The college students Sneha S. Jain, Shwetha M. Dhoka and Savitha P. Patil secured first, second and third ranks respectively.

With regard to other mainstream degree courses, the list of rank holders, names of their colleges, percentage and ranking are as follows:

Bachelor of Arts: Asma Gahlot, SJMVS Women’s College, Hubli (first); Shirley L. Joseph, SJMVS Women’s College (second); Shwetha Kanakaray Patil, KSC Women’s College, Gangavathi (third); Fareen Banu Shoukat H. Soudagar, SVM Women’s College, Ilkal (fourth); Kavitha Siddanna, VG Women’s College, Gulburga (fifth); Vijayalakshmi Gangaram, PHI Women;s College, Gulburga (sixth); Arshiya Sultana M., Bibi Raza (BR) Women’s College, Gulburga (seventh); Anasuya Kudari, Governmentt. Degree College, Bailahongal (eighth); Charulatha M. Purushotham, ASM Women’s College Bellary (ninth) and Tarunnum Jabeen M. Patel, BR Women’s College (tenth).

Bachelor of Commerce: All rank holders are from SJMVS Women’s College, Hubli. Poonam L. Jain (first), Triveni V. Naidu (second), Vijayalakshmi R. Pawar (third), Dhanashri M.H. (fourth), Varsha N. Ratan (fifth), Sheetal D. Kamat (sixth), Meru Jeenalal Jain (seventh), Deepa P. Sherugar 89 (eighth), Bindu Devadanam (ninth) and Poornima L. Sunkad (tenth).

Bachelor of Science: Samiya Taiqee M. Mujeebuddin, AMV, Bidar (first); Nala Anjum Mohammad Ikramuddin, BR Women’s College (second); Shajia Sultana Mohsin Mulla, SECAB College, Bijapur (third); Soniya Tarchand Mantri, VG Women’s College (fourth); Naziya Parveen Abdul Hakeem, VG Women’s College (fifth); Ashwini Krishna Reddy, VG Women’s College (sixth); Uma Chandrashekhar, ASM Women’s College (seventh); Salma Parveen M.A. Aziz, AMV, Bidar (eighth); Ramya V.
