Puducherry
PUDUCHERRY: The Puducherry unit of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) has urged the territorial government to take immediate steps to control the spiralling prices of essential commodities and construction materials. Secretary of the Puducherry unit of the AIADMK A. Anbalagan said in a statement here that a meeting of party functionaries adopted a resolution calling for a whitepaper from the government on its financial status. It would help clarify doubts against the backdrop of conflicting statements on the issue, the resolution said. The AIADMK urged the government to distribute free saris and dhotis to all ration card holders before ‘Pongal’ festival. The party also reinstated its demand for naming 100 ft road after M.G. Ramachandran.
