Priest murdered in temple

ARIYALUR: A priest was murdered inside a temple at Chockalingapuram near Meensurutti in the district late on Wednesday night. Cash from a ‘hundial’ and brass pot were reported stolen. S. Arivazhagan (45) was sleeping in front of the sanctum sanctorum when miscreants entered the temple and threw a huge stone on his head, killing him on the spot.

Senior police officers visited the scene of crime. Five special police teams have been formed to apprehend the culprits. — Staff Reporter
