Meet against move to merge banks

KOCHI: The All Kerala Bank Employees Federation will organise a people’s convention on January 12 in Kochi against the move for merger of banks. The convention is being held as part of the ongoing agitation against reforms in the banking sector. A statement by the Federation said several banks, including the State Bank of Travancore, were facing merger threat. The reforms were not in the interests of the ordinary people, the statement added. — Staff Reporter
