KANNUR: Minister for Local Self-Government Paloli Mohammed Kutty, who is also chairman of the committee constituted to submit report on implementing Sachar Committee’s recommendations, has said that the report will be submitted in February. Speaking at the committee’s sitting at the Collectorate Conference Hall here on Thursday, the Minister said that the committee had received valuable suggestions and proposals from organisations and individuals in districts in the Malabar region. He also revealed that the number of opinions and views received from southern districts exceeded expectations. All proposals and suggestions would be studied in detail after completing the committee’s sitting in Wayanad, Thrissur, Ernakulam and Palakkad district, he said. The Minister also said that tasks to be done by the Central government on implementing the Sachar Committee recommendations would be brought to its attention. Major issues being raised before the 11-member committee included problems in the education sector, employment and self-employment, infrastructure facilities and backwardness, he said. Distinct problemsThe committee had also been sensitised to the distinct problems of the minority community living in regions that were neither coastal nor hill areas, he added.
