Sports Utility Vehicles are often described as a prestigious cross between regular sedans and multi-utility vehicles. Meant to be tough, SUVs offer good equipment level with enough luggage and passenger space and come with a price tag of Rs.15 lakhs and above. The Four Wheel Drive has a surfeit of great options that vary from high-end sound system, height adjustable driver seat, temperature control air conditioning, 16 inch alloys, plush interiors with plenty of leg room, fire resistant upholstery, anti-roll bar, collapsible or tilting steering column, tubeless tyres to name a few. It’s 2.2L to 3.2 L (depending on the make) turbocharged diesel (even petro version) engine is propelled by a five-speed manual transmission and complemented by independent front and rear suspensions. Its macho and sporty looks have a military hard sturdy front and is designed to travel with panache “on-, off- and no-road terrains”. It has a good high ground clearance. The aesthetically better looking vehicle judiciously combines comforts of a passenger car and dynamics of a tough sports car.
