JAIPUR: A British couple on their way to the Golden City of Jaisalmer were killed when their car collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction on the highway, some 50 km from Bikaner, on Thursday morning. The car driver was also killed in the head-on collision.

The couple, identified as Sumuel Butterfield (34) and Mitchelle (31) from Bristol, died on the spot. The driver of the Indigo taxi car from Delhi was Ramrakh Yadav.

The Circle Officer of Nokha police station, Adarsh Choudhary, said the car and the empty truck, coming from the Jaisalmer side, collided near Sankhla Fanta village, some 50 km from Bikaner, around 11 a.m. The couple had stayed the previous night at a palace hotel in Bikaner.

The bodies of the couple are kept in the mortuary of the PBM Hospital, Bikaner. The authorities at the British High Commission in Delhi have been informed.
