Check eve-teasing: AIDWA

Staff Reporter

TIRUCHI: The district unit of the All-India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) has appealed for proper enforcement of law to check eve teasing in the wake of its widespread prevalence.

In a joint statement here, AIDWA district president S. Vairamani and district secretary U. Nirmala Rani expressed shock over the death of N. Vijayasanthi (18) due to eve-teasing here and urged the district administration and the police to provide compensation to the girl’s mother. The statement emphasised the need for sensitising teenaged girls to approach either the police or women’s organisations.
