Staff Reporter

ERODE: A 15-year-old male elephant was found dead with bullet injuries at Kalathimbam forest area, near Thimbam, within Sathyamangalam forests on Thursday evening. Its tusks were found missing.

Based on the information by villagers, Forest Ranger from Bhavanisagar and other forest officials rushed to the spot. The tusks were found to be cut off.

Veterinary doctors who examined the carcass on Thursday evening said that the elephant might have shot dead a week back. A hunt is on for culprits.
