Cooperative societies for Vishwabrahmins, Salivahanas

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Separate cooperative finance societies will be set up to cater for the financial needs of Vishwabrahmins and Salivahanas.

These will work on the lines of the AP Washermen Co-operative Societies Federation and AP Nayeebrahmin Co-operative Societies Federation which are serving the specified communities.

A decision to provide separate societies for Vishwabrahmins and Salivahanas was taken by Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy while reviewing the welfare of the backward classes at the Secretariat on Thursday.

He indicated that an amount of Rs. 907 crore would be provided for BC welfare in the 2008-09 budget which would be four times higher than the budgetary allocation of Rs. 238 crore in 2004-05.
