Tourists’ security to be reviewed

NEW DELHI: Concerned over recent incidents of assault on foreign tourists in the country, the Centre has decided to review the safety and security of the tourists, particularly women tourists, with the State governments.

Union Tourism Secretary S. Banerjee on Thursday sent a communication to the State governments and Union Territories, referring to recent incidents of harassment of foreign women tourists.

Mr. Banerjee reminded the governments about the concerns of the Centre on the safety and security of foreign as well as domestic tourists.
