CHENNAI: Sun Microsystems India has announced that it has been selected by Caltholic Syrian Bank (CSB) to implement a comprehensive core banking solution to help centralise its operations and deliver faster, more flexible services to its customers. Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Bhaskar Pramanik, President-India GEM (geographically emphasised market), Sun Microsystems India, said the bank was implementing ‘Maarvel’, a centralised banking solution, developed jointly with Laser Soft, a Chennai-based banking solution company. In addition, the bank has gone in for reporting/back-up servers and Sun storage system. Mr. Pramanik said apart from providing technology hardware, Sun also supported the bank’s core banking initiative with its 24x7 spectrum services which delivers a comprehensive portfolio of Service Plans for systems, storage and software. InvestmentThe Chairman of CSB, R. Venkataraman, said the bank had invested nearly Rs. 40 crore for the automation. At present the bank has nearly 360 branches. The bank planned to launch mobile ATMs by the end of February.
