Thirumurugan stars for Le Chatelier

Srivilliputtur: Thirumurugan’s 84 helped Le Chatelier MHSS (Madurai) defeat SDH Jain Vidyalaya (Madurai) by 52 runs and entered the semifinal round robin league of the All India inter-school boys Twenty20 cricket tournament for the Anandam Ammal memorial trophy at the Kalasalingam University ground here on Thursday.

The scores: (quarterfinals): Le Chatelier 169 for the five in 20 overs (Thirumurugan 84, Sathish 30) bt SDH Jain Vidyalaya, Madurai 117 for eight in 20 overs; MMHSS, Thirunagar 155 for nine in 20 overs (Karuppaiah 59, Sivaram three for 23) lost to KVS MHSS, Virudhunagar 156 for five in 17.2 overs ( Balamurugan 42, Gnanam 32, Thirusenthil 31); Govt. H.S.S Kaveripackam, Vellore 151 for six in 20 overs (Sankar 46 not out, Sathish three for 15) bt Govt. HSS. Andipatti 137 for eight in 20 overs (Subash 49, Perumal four for 13); Govt. HSS, Maharajapuram 128 for nine in 20 overs (Vinothkumar 44) lost to Govt HSS, Umarikadu 131 for four in 17.4 overs (Muthukumar 31).

St. Francis Xavier’s qualifies

St. Francis Xavier’s HSS (Dindigul) and Valluvar Gurukulam (Chennai) from group ‘A’ and Kshtriya Vidyalaya (Virudhunagar) and Sri Renuga Hindu HS, Pudupatti from group ‘B’ qualified for the super league of the All India inter-school girls volleyball tournament for the Anandam Ammal memorial trophy at the Kalasalingam University ground on Thursday

Saravanan shines

Saravanan’s five for 20 helped Sparkles CC defeat PTR Cricket Club by seven runs in the Deepak Memorial Trophy District-level Twenty 20 cricket tournament at Madurai on Thursday.

The scores:

Sparkles CC 84 in 20 overs bt PTR CC 77 in 94 overs (Savananan five for 20).

PS Oliva CC 78 in 15.3 overs (Swaminathan three for 22) lost to VRS CC 82 for one in nine overs.

Apollo CC 180 for five in 20 overs (Mahendran 55 not out) bt Crown CC 123 for nine in 20 overs.

Ellis CC 179 for eight in 20 overs (Rajkumar 74) bt Jai CC 143 in 18 overs (Devasiva 35).
