Small civets rescued
Staff Reporter
BANGALORE: The Bangalore Urban Forest personnel on Thursday rescued two newly born civets from the logs in a timber yard off Mysore Road.
According to Assistant Conservator of Forest Jayaram, the civets were found in the logs of Burma wood brought to the city from the dumping yard of Tuticorin Harbour. The city-based SLV Timbers purchased the wood from Burma.
When the wood logs were reshuffled in the city yard, some workers noticed civets and informed the timber yard owner. The owner in turn informed the Forest Department. A team consisting of Divisional Forest Officer and Range Forest Officer rescued the civets.
