No headway in tracing missing baby

BANGALORE: The police are yet to make headway in the child kidnapping episode reported from K.C. General Hospital on Saturday. The police, who are in search of Channamma, the woman who has allegedly kidnapped a new born baby from the hospital on instructions from the baby’s father, is yet to be traced.

The police did not get any information from the meeting between the child’s parents – Mahalakshmi and Manjunath held for the first time in the hospital premises since the kidnap, on Wednesday. While Mahalakshmi is recovering in the hospital, Manjunath has been moving around with the police. Mahalakshmi is likely to be discharged on Friday.

The meeting, which was arranged following the request of Mahalakshmi, was held in the chamber of the hospital superintendent. During the meeting, Manjunath is learnt to have reiterated to his wife what he had told the police. He is reported to have told his wife that he only knew Channamma and did not know about her whereabouts.

Meanwhile, the hospital authorities said Manjunath knows much more about the woman.
