Moily’s remark irks TDP leaders

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Telugu Desam Party has taken exception to the AICC general secretary in-charge of Andhra Pradesh, Veerappa Moily’s comment that the party had weakened, paving the way for other political parties and demanded withdrawal of the comment.

Addressing a press conference, TDP leaders, E. Peddi Reddy, K. Harishwar Reddy, Ramana, Ch. Sudhakar Rao and M. Laxmaiah wondered how Mr. Moily could come to such a conclusion when his own party was losing State after State in the Assembly elections, a feat that would be repeated in Andhra Pradesh soon.

The Congress leader should know it was the people and not he, who would decide how strong or weak a political party was, they said.

People in the State were disgusted by the corruption and failure of the Congress Government on all- fronts and were just waiting for the opportune time to strike.

This was not the Opposition’s charge but the contention of the Congress leaders like Harirama Jogaiah and G. Venkat Reddy.

“Instead of setting his own house in order, Mr. Moily is commenting on other parties”.
