Cabinet decision on poromboke land

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: The Cabinet on Thursday decided to bring down the time limit for regularisation of encroachment of poromboke land from 10 years to five years.

Till now, house site pattas were issued to those who had built houses on poramboke land and lived there for more than 10 years provided it was not required for the Government.

Hereafter, the pattas would be given to those who had lived there for over 5 years, according to an official release issued after the 24th Cabinet meeting.
