Gillespie out of New Zealand squad
WELLINGTON (New Zealand): Seam bowler Mark Gillespie withdrew with a shoulder injury on Thursday from the New Zealand squad for the second cricket Test against Bangladesh, starting at the Basin Reserve on Saturday.
Gillespie took three wickets in a domestic limited-overs match on Wednesday, but left the field when he aggravated a shoulder injury sustained during New Zealand’s one-day series against Bangladesh.
No replacement has been named and it is likely that current squad members Iain O’Brien and Michael Mason will vie for the third seamer’s role, while Chris Martin and Kyle Mills will continue to take the new ball.
Spinner Jeetan Patel has already been added to the New Zealand team for the Wellington Test and will play if conditions suit. — AP
