Telangana Congress leaders ‘reject’ Moily statement
HYDERABAD: A section of Telangana Congress leaders sprang a surprise on Friday claiming that the statement by AICC general secretary M. Veerappa Moily that a second States Reorganisation Commission (SRC) would be constituted was not official.
K. R. Amos, newly-appointed convenor of the group of Telangana Congress leaders, and Palvai Goverdhan Reddy, Member of the Telangana Regional Congress Coordination Committee (TRCCC), maintained that the high command was yet to issue an official statement about it.
Talking to reporters here, Mr. Amos said that the decision on constituting the SRC was too late and would not serve any purpose. He said Mr. Moily’s word could not be taken as official. “It is premature and the final word has to come from AICC president Sonia Gandhi,” he said.
“We are going to New Delhi on January 28 to meet Ms. Gandhi and impress upon her the need to take an early decision on Telangana without linking it to the SRC,” he said.
Mr. Goverdhan Reddy also echoed similar sentiments and said that Mr. Moily’s statement was his personal opinion.
