Special Correspondent

FLOATING BEAUTY: The ‘teppotsava’ of Sri Rameshwar Temple.

TIRTHAHALLI: Traditional gaiety and enthusiasm marked the “teppotsava” at river Tunga here on Thursday evening, which brought the curtains on the Ellu Amavasye Jatre of the Sri Rameshwar Temple. Thousands of devotees from various places such as Shimoga, Sagar and Hosnagar gathered on the banks of the river to watch the event.

The decorated raft carrying the idols of the deities started floating in the waters as the sun set in. The Jayachamajendra bridge across the river, the stone arch at Balebylu Siddheshwarabetta and the rocks along the course of the river were illuminated. The former MLA from Tirthahalli Araga Jnanendra, tahsildar Rudresh, president of the Shimoga District Cooperative Central Bank R.M. Manjunath Gowda and president of the temple trust Lakshminarayan were present.
