‘Parvettai vizha’ on January 16

KANCHEEPURAM: The ‘Pazhayaseevaram parvettai’ festival of Sri Devarajaswamy Temple at Little Kancheepuram will be held on January 16. According to a release, the presiding deity, Sri Varadarajar, would be taken out in a procession to Sri Lakshminarasimhaswamy Temple at Pazhayaseevaram hillock on January 15. The procession, which would begin from the Little Kancheepuram temple at 9.30 p.m., would pass through Tollgate, Nathapettai, Nayakanpettai, Wallajahbad, Puliyambakkam and Sankarapuram and reach Pazhayaseevaram at 4-30 a.m. on January 16. The deity would be brought to the ‘mandapam’ on the hillock at 9-30 a.m. where special anointment would be performed. Later, the deity would be taken to the hillock temple for special pujas and from there, to Thirumukkoodal .
