Rs.25 lakh sanctioned to Ariyalur for relief works

ARIYALUR: The State Government has sanctioned Rs.25 lakh to Ariyalur district for interim and immediate relief works in the rain affected areas, according to the Collector Xavier Chrisso Nayagam.
Of this Rs.11.75 lakh has been allotted for repairing the culverts at Ayyanar Kovil Street, Sengunthapuram Main Road, Anna Nagar East, Malankudiruppu, Kormedu Road and Kamarajapuram and a drain at Ice Factory Street in Jayamkondam Municipality limits; Rs.3.75 lakh for constructing retaining walls at the Velapatti Tank, where a breach had occurred, and repairing the Kamathiamman Kovil Street in Udayarpalayam Town Panchayat and Rs.3.78 lakh for repairing the drainages in North Street, Thennur South Street and West Arockiyapuram in Varadharajanpetttai Town Panchayat.
This apart, Rs.1.80 lakh has been allotted to the Senthurai Union, Rs.1.50 lakh to Andimadam Union and Rs.2.80 lakh to the Jayamkondam Union for various repair works.
Officials have been instructed to carry out the works expeditiously.
Pending repair works would be taken up on further allocation of funds from the State Government, Mr. Chrisso Nayagam said in a release.
