Laboratories, women college hostel planned

PERAMBALUR: The Tamil Nadu Assembly Estimates Committee will recommend to the State Government for setting up of soil testing laboratory, horticulture farm, fertilizer quality testing laboratory and women college hostel in the district.

Speaking to presspersons after reviewing the progress of various government programmes with the district officials here on Friday, Mr. Mullaivendhan, the Chairman of the Estimates Committee said that the Perambalur district needed all the four positively.

Mr. Mullaivendhan said it has been planned to construct a college students’ hostel on an outlay of Rs.86 lakh in Senjeri near Perambalur to accommodate about 100 students. The Committee has directed the authorities to fix ceiling fans in all the government school students’ hostels in the district within three days, besides acquire additional land for the Kalarampatti Adidravidar Higher Secondary School and construct a compound wall, get gas connection for the Melapuliyur hostel and undertake repair works for the Kurumbalur school students’ hostel.

He said that the banks in the district have so far during the current year disbursed a sum to the tune of Rs.17 crore as educational loans to students pursuing higher studies. It has been planned to construct a compound wall for the central library and also create vehicles parking facility.

Earlier speaking at the review meeting, the officials were directed to take steps for the provision of house site pattas to the adidravidars wherever demanded and also disburse the uniforms to the school students in time. The officials should forward fresh estimates for the incomplete development works executed by the PWD and THADCO and take steps to complete them at the earliest he added.

The Perambalur District Collector, Anil Meshram, and other officials participated in the review meeting. The members of the committee Subburam, Jayaraman and Senthamilselvan were also present on the occasion.
