Rajahmundry: Speakers at the 81st anniversary of ‘Praja Patrika’ political weekly have appreciated the efforts of the editor, publisher and family members of the publication for running the newspaper for the last 81 years. They said it was only through commitment newspapers can be run efficiently. MP Vundavalli Aruna Kumar said during Independence one needed guts to run newspaper and now one should have money and muscle power to run the same in the competitive market. He said at a time when sustaining small newspapers had become a big task, the cultural capital was having the track record of launching small newspapers and running them successfully. He recalled that from the times of Kandukuri Veeresalingam and before him also people of Rajahmundry had the habit of welcoming small newspapers. M.V. Subba Rao, National Best Teacher Awardee, presided over the function. MLC N. Sesha Reddy said it was the responsibility of society to support small newspapers. World Spiritual Knowledge, Medical, Education Foundation president Umar Ali Sha said attending medical needs of the poor, giving knowledge through education and spirituality in minds would give new path to the mankind. D.N. Murthy, Assistant Project Coordinator of Rajiv Vidya Commission, B. Srinivas, senior journalist, also spoke CBVRK Sarma and Sannidhanam Narasimha Sarma also spoke. Editor Devi Sudarshan presented annual report. Dr. Umar Ali Sha released the Digitalized CDs of old issues of Praja Patrika and handed over to MP Aruna Kumar and MLA R. Suryaprakasa Rao were present.
