PATNA: Taking exception to alleged poor arrangements made for the Haj pilgrims, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has sought review of Haj arrangements so as to identify the deficiencies and plug the gaps. In a letter to the Prime Minister, Kumar said the feedback he had received from the pilgrims returning to Bihar was that the arrangements during Haj 2007 were “poor leading to unprecedented harassment to them during their journey and stay at the holy cities.” “The entire system of arranging travel, stay and other related matters had gone haywire this year,” Kumar charged and sought Prime Minister’s intervention to take remedial measures. He demanded that Prime Minister direct the Air India and Haj Committee officials as well as Ministry of External Affairs to take remedial action on all these issues. Kumar said according to complaints, a large number of pilgrims were packed in high-rise buildings where lifts were non-functional. - PTI
