Corrections and Clarifications

Mr. K. Karunakaran was sworn in Chief Minister of Kerala four times — in 1977, 1981, 1982 and 1991. He was Chief Minister for a brief period in 1977, again between 1981-1982 and 1982-1987 and 1991-1995. In the interregnum between his second and third term (1981-1982 and 1982-1987), there was no other Chief Minister. The 1981 to 1987 period is taken as one period in several reference materials. The editorial, “Messy divorce, unhappy reunion” (January 2, 2008) said he was Chief Minister thrice.

The name of the Greek Prime Minister, Kostas Karamanlis, was wrongly spelt as Karamanli’ in the headline (“Greek Prime Minister’s visit to boost ties,” January 11, 2008).
