S Tel gets Letters of Intent

CHENNAI: Telecom player S Tel has been provided Letters of Intent (LoI) for six circles across the country.

The LoIs are for Bihar, Orissa, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Assam and the North Eastern States.

The company also filed an application to the Wireless Planning Commission for allocation of spectrum after remitting Rs. 25.1 crore as entry fees and Rs. 42 crore as bank guarantee.

Additional charges

The company, which plans to focus on the huge rural market, had volunteered to pay additional spectrum charges to the extent of Rs. 13,752 crore, while at the same time committing to charge not more than 30 paise per minute for calls any where in India.

S Tel has also applied for telecom licences for the remaining 16 circles for which it expects to be provided LoIs soon.
