Contempt notice to 3 CPI (M) leaders

Special Correspondent

KOLKATA: The Calcutta High Court on Friday ordered contempt notices to three leaders of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), including State committee secretary Biman Bose, for their alleged derogatory comments on its observation that the March 14, 2007 Nandigram police firing was unjustified and unconstitutional.

A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice S. S. Nijjar and Justice P. C. Ghose directed the Registrar-General to serve the notices on the leaders, the others being central committee members Shyamal Chakravarty and Binoy Konar.

The matter will come up for hearing after two weeks.
