NEW DELHI: Bajaj Auto Limited (BAL) has tied up with its Japanese technical partner Kawasaki to sell the latter’s ‘big bikes’ in the country. Both companies will look into possibilities for developing products jointly in India. Under the agreement, BAL will bring Kawasaki bikes and distribute through its exclusive ‘Probiking Stalls’ this year. Four models — ‘Ninja 250’, sports roadster ‘ER-6n’, super sports bike ‘Ninja ZX6R’ and ‘Vulcan Cruiser Z1000’ — will be available initially in India. Designed by Kawasaki for the U.S., Europe and Japan, popular ‘Ninja 250’ is powered by an eight-valve DOHC liquid cooled 250 cc fuel injection engine with the 6-speed transmission. To widen portfolioInterestingly, the agreement came a day after Bajaj said it would launch Austrian sports bike maker KTM’s two high-performance models — ‘1190 RC 8’ and ‘690 Duke’ — by the middle of this year. Bajaj Auto has a technical tie-up with Kawasaki Heavy Industries of Japan to produce a range of the latest, state-of-art two-wheelers in India. Addressing a press conference here at the ongoing Auto Expo 2008, Baja Auto MD Rajiv Bajaj said: “Both Kawasaki and Bajaj have synergised their strengths to widen the portfolio in the respective markets.”
