Annamalai enters pre-quarterfinals

Tirunelveli: Annamalai University entered the pre-quarterfinals of the South West zone inter-university women’s kho-kho tournament defeating R.T. Maharaj Nagpur University 18-10 at VOC Stadium, Palayamkottai on Friday.

The results: Fourth round: Annamalai bt RT Maharaj Nagpur 18-10; Acharya Nagarjuna bt MD Saraswathy 18-3; Andhra bt Devi Ahalya 11-5; Bharathiar bt North Madarashtra 20-7; Bharathidasan bt Tumkur 17-2.

Two wins for Le-Chatelier

Le-Chatelier Matriculation HSS, Madurai registered two wins in the semifinal round robin league in the all India inter-school boys Twenty20 cricket tournament at Srivilliputtur on Friday.

The scores:

League: KVSM HSS, Virudhunagar 84 in 17 overs (Aditya 36, Thavanraj three for 10) lost to Govt. HSS, Umrikad 87 for seven in 15.5 overs (Godwin three for 14).

Lechatelier MHSS, Madurai 155 in 19.5 overs (Sathish 65) bt Govt. HSS, Kaveripakkam, Vellore 74 in 13.2 overs (Ramesh 33, Kasi three for 14, Varun five for two).

KVS Matric. HSS 109 for nine in 20 overs (Balamurugan 27) lost to Govt. HSS, Kaveripakkam, Vellore 110 for four in 16.2 overs (Daya Sankar 35, Sivaram three for 15).

Lechatelier MHSS 162 for five in 20 overs (Thirumurugan 42, Sathish 33, Vinodh 39, Arun four for 31) bt Govt. HSS, Umarikad 83 in 19 overs (Kasi Viswanathan three for five).

Kshatriya Vidyalaya in final

Kshatriya Vidyalaya, Virudhunagar and St. Francis Xavier’s HSS, Dindigul set up the title clash between them in the all India inter-school girls volleyball tournament by registering two wins each in the four-team super-league at Kalasalingam University ground on Friday.

The results: League: Kshatriya Vidyalaya bt Valluvar Gurukulam, Chennai 25-12, 25-21, 25-16; St. Francis Xavier’s HSS bt Sri Renuga Hindu HS, Pudupatti 25-11, 25-22, 25-9; Kshatriya Vidyalaya bt Sri Renuga Hindu HS 25-22, 25-14, 25-17; St. Francis Xavier’s HSS bt Valluvar Gurukulam 23-25, 25-10, 25-17, 25-8.

Karthik excels

M. Karthik’s five for six helped Black Tigers Cricket Club defeat Spatters CC by eight wickets in the Deepak memorial Trophy district-level Twenty 20 cricket tournament at Madurai on Friday.

The scores:

Spatters CC 58 in 11.3 overs lost to Black Tigers CC 59 for two in 12.5 overs (M. Karthik five for six, Amanullah three for seven).

Dayal CC 122 for eight in 20 overs (Mukesh 37) lost to Spark CC 123 for two in 19.2 overs (Prabu 76).

Hifliers CC 136 in 20 overs (Niranjan 47, Senthilvel five for 10) bt Paumpon CC 95 in 16 overs.

SRT posts win

Sri Renuga Textiles beat Kombai Cricket Club by 25 runs in the TDCA HDFC Bank Trophy district-level cricket tournament at Theni on Friday.

The scores: Sri Renuga Textiles 105 in 20 overs (Babu three for 18) bt Kombai CC 80 in 17 overs.
