Durga Boro shines for Oil India Ltd.

Bangalore: Durga Boro’s brace helped Oil India Ltd. (OIL) defeat Chennai Petroleum Corporation (CPC) 4-0 in a PSPB inter-unit football championship semifinals at the Football Stadium here on Friday evening. Durga scored in the seventh and 47th minute while F. Wary (ninth min.) and Minto Boro (17th min.) also scored for the victors. In the other semifinal, ONGC defeated BPCL 2-0 with Sunil Chowdry (40th min.) and Tarif Ahamed (44th min.) chipping in the goals.

Innings win for Karnataka

Host Karnataka defeated Kerala by an innings and 10 runs in a KSCA South Zone under-13 tournament match that concluded at the RSI Ground here on Friday. On the third and final day, trailing Karnataka’s 507, Kerala scored 318 and later following-on, mustered 179 in its second innings with only first innings centurion Sanju Samson, offering some resistance with an 88. For the hosts, K.N. Bharat grabbed six wickets (six for 41).

Karnataka 507 for four in 110 overs bt Kerala 318 in 85.4 overs (Sanju Samson 132, Rahul Raghavan 47, B.S. Karthikeyan eight for 98) and 179 in 68.3 overs (Sanju Samson 88, Rahul Raghavan 44, K.N. Bharat six for 41).

Tamil Nadu 157 in 69 overs and 235 in 94 overs (M. Adityan 83, Prasanna Venkatesh 53, Naren Reddy five for 73, Saleem Baig five for 85) lost to Andhra 296 in 91 overs and 98 for four in 29.2 overs (Hari Krish four for 32).

Goa 303 in 103.3 overs and 162 in 66 overs drew with Hyderabad 207 in 71.1 overs and 215 for eight in 44 overs (Arun Deva 62, Tanmay Agarwal 44).

Narrow win for RSFC

Helped by centre-forward Sunny Samauel’s brace (15th & 45th minutes) and a goal by centre-half Harish (34th minute), Railway South FC got the better of a fighting Railway Institute (VV) 3-2 in the semifinal super-league league encounter in the MDFA ‘B’ Division league at Mysore on Friday.

Right-in Ismail scored two excellent goals for Railway Institute FC (VV) in the 20th & 30th minutes of the game. The teams were level 2-2 at half time.

Avis Sunrise posts win

Avis Sunrise scored a facile 47-run win over J.D. Kotecha High School in the inaugural match of the Ramco Cup under-16 years cricket tournament organised by Dakshina Kannada District Cricket Association in Mangalore on Friday.

The scores: Avis 188 for 7 in 25 overs (Moin Khan 33) bt J. D. Kotecha 141 for 7 in 25 overs (Kuldeep 47, Chandrakanth Purohith 3 for 30).

Junior badminton

The Century Club State-ranking mini and sub-junior badminton tournament will be held here from January 26 to 29.

Inter-school football

The Bangalore District Football Association (BDFA) will conduct the Tata Tea soccer stars inter-school football tournament for under-15 boys at the Football Stadium here on January 27 and 28.
