Chance for quizzers to strike gold

CHENNAI: If you fancy yourself as a quizzer, here is a chance to marry knowledge with wealth.

Airtel has announced an interactive quiz with a Rs. 1-crore jackpot prize for its subscribers in Chennai and Tamil Nadu circles to coincide with Pongal.

To hit the mother lode, the subscriber has to get the right answers to a set of 101 questions from fields including sports, movies, music or history. “The programme is as much about enhancing customer engagement as about fathoming user preferences,” Rajiv Rajgopal, Airtel Chief Executive Officer-TN, said on Thursday.

The ‘Dial a Crore’ contest obviously has its eye on the youth segment in Airtel’s 5 million user base in the State.

Million dollar question

The million dollar question on Round 5 is open-ended and the contestant’s answer has to match the pre-recorded one.

Apart from the jackpot, there is also a prize of Rs. 5 lakh for the contestant with the second-highest score, Rs.50,000 to the highest scorer of each week, and Rs.10,000 to the topper of the day.

To participate in the contest, subscribers should call 52200. The contest, launched on January 10, will be on till March 15. Calls to the stipulated number are chargeable at Rs. 9 a minute. For details, subscribers can call the toll-free line 171400.
