Thiruvananthapuram
Thiruvananthapuram: Health Minister P.K. Sreemathy has directed that stringent measures be taken to ensure cleanliness and hygiene in hospitals. Ms. Sreemathy, who visited the SAT and Government Medical College hospitals on Friday, interacted with the cleaning staff and told them that strict action would be taken if cleaning work in hospitals slackened. She monitored the effectiveness of the new pass system which had restricted entry of visitors to wards in the medical college hospital. She said that once common dining areas were created, no one other than patients would be allowed to eat in the wards. Identity cards were also being made mandatory to hospital staff so that no fraudsters were allowed inside. She discussed with the hospital authorities the economic viability of the IV fluid plant run by the Kerala Health Research and Welfare Society. The plant was at present unable to meet the IV fluid requirement of the hospitals inside the medical college campus.
