Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: The wife of a film producer allegedly committed suicide by immolating herself at an apartment on Malleswaram 8th cross on Friday.

The police said Saraswathi (36), wife of Srinivas Naidu, the film producer, committed suicide at her residence in Pavithra Apartments in Malleswaram police station limits. The incident came to light when one of her uncles came home around 9 p.m. and found smoke coming out of the house. He broke open the door and rushed to rescue Saraswathi, who had already suffered severe burns.

The police said that Saraswathi had doused herself with kerosene before setting herself afire. It is learnt that the victim was alone at home when the incident took place. The police said that the uncle, whose identity was not revealed, also suffered burns and had been admitted to a private hospital. The Malleswaram police, who shifted the body to Victoria Hospital, are investigating.
