Old man held for selling arrack

TIRUCHI: The Prohibition and Enforcement Wing of the city police arrested a 61-year-old man on the charge of selling illicit arrack here on Friday. Around four litres of illicit arrack was seized from the possession of K. Veeramalai who was later remanded to judicial custody, the police said.

Pongal festival will be celebrated at the Corporation Office and all its divisional offices on January 15. A special cleaning work will be carried out in the city limits on ‘Bhogi’ festival which falls on January 14, a press release from the Corporation here said.
