Hyderabad ‘B’ wins men’s title

HYDERABAD: Hyderabad ‘B’ won the men’s team championship, beating Ranga Reddy ‘A’ 3-0 in the final of the 36th senior inter-district and open carrom championship at the SAAP Tennis Complex indoor hall here on Friday.

The results: Final: Hyderabad ‘B’ bt Ranga Reddy ‘A’ 3-0 (K. Srinivas bt S. Naveen 19-25, 25-8, 25-12; M.A. Hakeem bt E. Ashok Kumar 25-5, 25-10; S. Sagar & Shahrukh Khan bt T. Vijay Krishna & S. Ramesh 10-25, 25-5, 25-16). Third place: Hyderabad ‘A’ bt Ranga Reddy ‘B’ 3-0 (R.D. Dinesh Babu bt Md. Taal 25-0, 25-8; V. Anil Kumar bt Sk. Mohamad 25-19, 25-17; L. Suryaprakash & Uday Kumar bt Muneed Ahmed & Younus 25-4, 20-25, 25-15).

Men’s singles: Fourth round: L. Surya Prakash bt Uday Kumar 20-10, 25-14; A. Ajay Kumar bt Benjamin Joel 25-14, 25-5; P.S. Uday Kumar bt Prasanna Kumar 25-0, 25-6; E. Selection trials

Trials to select the Andhra Pradesh veterans football team for the sixth veterans championship, which is to be held in Mumbai from February 2 to 9, held at the Gymkhana Grounds on January 12 at 4.30 p.m. Contact: Aleem Khan, secretary of APVFA.

Tennis tournament

Secunderabad Club will organise the Moin-ud-Dowla annual State-ranking tennis tournament, sponsored by Lanco Infratech Ltd, from January 21 to 27 in their courts, according to Satish Reddy, organising secretary.

Entries close on January 18 and should be sent to the tennis coach of the Club.

Bridge tournaments

Hyderabad Club will conduct Master Pairs bridge championship on January 13 from 10.00 a.m. on its premises. For details, contact G. Somi Reddy, APSBA secretary, 9441262945. Junior golf

Taquiuddin-Sathyan in final

Mohammed Taquiuddin and Srirang Sathyan entered the boys’ under-10 doubles final of the Pioneer Open tennis tournament here on Friday defeating M. Satish Reddy and L. Keshav 6-0 in the semi-finals.
