Quest to find the most powerful arm

Chennai: ’The ‘Million Dollar Arm’, a unique talent hunt to find the most powerful arm in the country, is underway in India.

It’s a search where the winner would win a $1 million prize money apart from undergoing a 10-month training stint in the U.S. where he would be scouted by Pro baseball teams.

This is a venture by Asian event and sports entertainment company PDM International and 7 Figures Management, a California based Sports and Talent Marketing and Management conglomerate.

The event, criss-crossing the country in the North, South, West and East Zones, will be shown on Zee Sports television channel.

Addressing the media, here, on Friday, Jeff Bernstein, Managing Director, 7 Figures Management, said, "We are eager to find that one most powerful and fastest arm in the country and groom him to be the first star baseball pitcher from India."

Advantage

He said the Indians into cricket had advantage over their U.S. counterparts since they could both bowl and throw. "Their muscles have been developed differently as compared to someone from the U.S. who has been only throwing. We have seen a 17 year-old from India who just walked in and threw at over 90 mph. It was amazing," he said.

In a contest for the media, M. Rajasekhar won the $250 on offer by producing the fastest throw (in the mid 60s mph). — Special Correspondent
