33-year-old woman spends months disguised as boy

Oslo: A search for a 13-year-old Czech boy reported missing from a children’s home here exposed a bizarre case of identity theft in which a 33-year-old woman spent four months posing as a schoolboy in Norway.

Barbora Skrlova had been hiding from Czech authorities to avoid giving testimony in a 2007 child abuse case, the Czech police said.

She was deported back to the Czech Republic and detained on Wednesday, after months of fooling teachers, child care workers and police in Norway by passing herself off as a boy named ‘Adam,’ the Czech police said.

Adam — actually Skrlova — was enrolled in September at the Marienlyst school near Oslo by a woman who gave a Czech passport and introduced the 33-year-old woman as her son Adam. Skrlova, with her head shaved and breasts bound, managed to convince authorities she was Adam. — AP
