VIZIANAGARAM: Maa Mahamaya Industries Limited is to expand its mini integrated steel plant at R.G.Peta village in L.Kota mandal in the district in the next five months, according to Ashok Kumar Agarwal, Chairman and Managing Director of the company. Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, Mr. Agarwal said that the installed capacity of 1.20 lakh MT of billets and TMT bars would be doubled. He said that the company had so far planted 50,000 saplings and taken all precautionary steps to control pollution. An 18 MW captive power plant was set up with waste gases for the plant’s use, he added. Vice-president (Finance) Sandeep Tiwari said sale of TMT bars and billets in the first six months of commercial production was Rs.103 crores. In the current fiscal, the achievement till December 31, 2007 was Rs. 169 crores against the target of Rs. 250 crores and the contribution of the company to the State Government in the form of sales tax and excise duty was around Rs.50 crores. The company engages over 500 employees either directly or indirectly,, Mr. Tiwari said. General Manager (production) Vittal claimed that the products manufactured under brand name ‘Mangal TMT” in the plant were of best quality.
