Officials have been instructed to compulsorily achieve targets

BELLARY: Chief executive officer of the Bellary Zilla Panchayat Anthony Mendonca has underlined the need for officials of all departments to achieve targets fixed for the current year and ensure that welfare schemes benefited the needy. He also cautioned that failure to achieve them would be construed as dereliction of duty and would be entered into their respective service records.

Participating in the monthly meeting to review progress of the Karnataka Development Programme held here on Friday, he asked officials to strive hard to ensure successful implementation of the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) and see to it that the grama panchayats were ready with an action plan for implementing at least six schemes. He instructed the district health officer to inquire into the allegations made by vice-president of the zilla panchayat Savita Bai on the issue of destruction of medicines at the Moka Primary Health Centre and submit a detailed report. If the health officials were found guilty, steps would be taken to recover the amount spent on medicines, he said.

Computer training

He wanted officials concerned to obtain approval from the zilla panchayat and begin computer training for candidates under the Suvarna Gramodaya Scheme before January 28. With regard to the construction of 39 buildings under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyaan without entering into an agreement, he instructed the in-charge Deputy Director to write to the head masters to release payments only after the process was followed.

Presiding over the meeting, president of the zilla panchayat Pushparekha, while stating that absolute cooperation was essential for wholesome development of the district, called upon officials to strive hard to implement welfare schemes. Chairman of the Standing Committee on Education and Health Rudragowda was present.
