Puri: The government changed the public prosecutor (PP) handling the Konark Marine Drive gangrape case following a demand from the victim. Official sources said the victim had earlier urged the government to change the public prosecutor B.K. Mishra, in whom she did not have faith. She also urged the court not to proceed with the case unless he was changed. Mr. Mishra was replaced by R.K. Agarwal, the additional public prosecutor, and the necessary documents were delivered to the district administration, the sources said. The victim of the November 3 gangrape, who had been staying at a shelter in Bhubaneswar after being rejected by her native village near Puri town, alleged that Mr. Mishra was in cahoots with the accused persons and was trying to move the case in their favour. – PTI
