Specialise in new areas, Shah tells lawyers

Staff Reporter

COIMBATORE: Chief Justice of Madras High Court A.P. Shah on Saturday urged advocates to specialise in developing areas .

At a function organised by the Coimbatore Bar Association to honour 13 advocates who completed 50 years of practice and to mark its 125th year celebrations, Justice Mr. Shah said courts had created rules for filing of documents by fax, and the Supreme Court had started computerisation of the judicial system by introducing e-filing, which would be extended to High Courts in the next phase, and then to the subordinate judiciary.

Legal issues relating to the Internet gave rise to issues of copyright, freedom of expression and, most importantly, privacy, and this increased commercial activity would inevitably lead to more disputes.

He also honoured 13 advocates who completed 50 years of practice.
