Two camps for bird watchers

At Kumarakom and Thattekkad bird sanctuaries in connection with World Wetlands Day


THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The WWF-India will organise a two-day bird watching programme from February 8 at Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary and Thattekkad Bird Sanctuary in connection with World Wetlands Day.

The camp will include bird watching trips, discussion and interactive sessions. Physically fit people, in the age group 15 to 45, who are interested in birds and nature can participate in the camp. Kumarakom and associated wetlands are the feeding ground of a lot of birds like cormorants, darters, teals, kingfishers, apart from migratory birds like sandpipers and plovers. Thatekkad bird sanctuary is also home to several forest birds like emerald dove, black caped kingfisher, nightjars and the rare Sri Lankan frogmouth.
